The Ministry of Transport is convening a working group to develop a ‘NZ Inc’ package of measures to accelerate the uptake of electric vehicles. The working group involves members from central and local government and industry. Drive Electric will play a very active role in this dialogue for our EV members and we look forward to engaging with you on what you believe will assist here also.
At this stage, key issues the working group will address include:
- Joint government-business EV uptake targets – determining what is a reasonable level of uptake to aspire towards
- Governance – establishing the best way to bring relevant public and private sector players together on an ongoing basis to drive electric vehicle uptake
- An NZ Inc electric vehicle package – developing a plan parties can commit to
The Ministry of Transport is working toward finalising a proposed package for consideration by Chief Executives of working group members by the end of October 2015.
