EECA

The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) mobilises New Zealanders to be world leaders in clean and clever energy use by encouraging and facilitating sustainable practices across all sectors of the NZ economy. EECA does this with expertise, research, regulation, co-investment, support — and by engaging the hearts and minds of all New Zealanders.

EECA supports early and innovative investment in promoting, enabling and accelerating the uptake of electric and other low-emission vehicles in New Zealand. The transport sector provides the largest opportunity to improve New Zealand’s energy productivity and reduce energy-related emissions. EECA plays an important role in the Government’s Electric Vehicles Programme, and runs EV information campaigns dispelling myths about EVs and helping people understand how they can meet their transport needs with low-emissions vehicles. They also stimulate innovation in the sector through the Low Emission Vehicles Contestable Fund.

EECA also runs Gen Less, a resource website dedicated to helping Kiwis learn how to live and work with less carbon emissions.
